In April 2005, the Senate President and House Speaker formed the Agricultural Stewardship Commission. The Commission held a series of town meetings to hear public commentary on issues relating to farming practices, particularly farm wastes, and the health of the Chesapeake Bay. Based on the outcomes of the town meetings, the Commission drafted legislation for the 2006 legislative session.
On January 19, 2006, the Commission submitted its final report to the Senate President and House Speaker.
