Governor's Council for Historically Underutilized Businesses was authorized in Feb. 2004 (Executive Order 01.01.2004.16). Council advised Office of Minority Affairs on matters relating to minority businesses. It also further assisted and consulted in this area upon request of Governor or Special Secretary of Minority Affairs.

Council last met in Oct. 2005.

In July 2018, Small Business Resources and Data Collection Work Group was convened by Governor's Office of Small, Minority, and Women Business Affairs (Chapter 455, Acts of 2018).

Work Group studied and made recommendations on collection of data by State agencies that could be used to assist small businesses in accessing State resources and bidding on State contracts.

Authorization for Work Group ended June 30, 2019.

Work Group submitted its report to Governor, Senate President, and House Speaker on July 2, 2019.
