Task Force on Ambulance Safety was formed by Executive Director in June 2010. Task Force promoted the advancement of ambulance safety and looks for ways to reduce ambulance accidents in Maryland. It monitored trends in ambulance crash incidents and considered how to address future ambulance safety issues common to all jurisdictions.

A November 2011 report submitted by Task Force recommended a number of new policies. Among these were better screening and training of ambulance drivers; increased use of restraints and seat belts; reduction of excessive ambulance speeds; and better enforcement of safety practices.

Task Force last met on Feb. 16, 2019.

TRAUMA FIELD-TRIAGE TASK FORCE

Trauma Field-Triage Task Force formed in Oct. 2008 by State Emergency Medical Services Board. Task Force met in Nov. 2008 to review emergency medical protocols and practices used to identify, treat, and transport trauma patients by helicopter to regional hospitals in Maryland.

Task Force reported Nov. 24, 2008, and recommended changes to current field practices and operations for emergency medical care provided to injured patients before arrival at hospital.
