Speaker's Medallion, House of Delegates, 2005. Widower; two daughters, four grandchildren. Died in Federalsburg, Maryland, November 26, 2016.
Montrose Military Reservation in Reisterstown, Maryland, the site of the former Montrose School for Girls, was renamed in 1991 as the Camp Fretterd Military Reservation to honor Adjutant General Fretterd.
