In August 2015, President's Gray Days, Brighter Tomorrows Task Force was appointed.

In light of circumstances surrounding death of Baltimore resident Freddie C. Gray, Jr., on April 19, 2015, Task Force charge was to identify Baltimore City's most challenging problems and develop a plan of action to solve them. Task Force also was to develop short- and long-term strategies to alleviate systemic urban challenges in education, poverty, public safety, public health, and unemployment.

Task Force was to submit an interim report to President by December 24, 2015, and its final report by May 16, 2016.

At request of General Assembly, Institute for Urban Research at Morgan State University convened Task Force on Reconciliation and Equity in June 2018 (Chapter 417, Acts of 2018).

Task Force was to foster reconciliation and inclusionary justice, and work toward achieving racial equity. Consequently, it studied nature of racism, sexism in experience of racial inequities, and institutional bias throughout Maryland. To improve race relations, eliminate institutional and structural racism and gender inequities, and increase awareness of conscious and unconscious bias, Task Force also recommended strategies, changes, and actions in State institutions, policies, and laws.

In Feb. 2019, an interim report was submitted to Governor and General Assembly and a final report in Jan. 2021 (Chapter 453, Acts of 2019).

Authorization for Task Force ended May 31, 2021 (Chapter 453, Acts of 2019).
