In June 2018, the 2020 Census Grant Program Panel was authorized by the General Assembly (Chapters 18, Acts of 2018).

To ensure that certain jurisdictions in the State are not undercounted in the upcoming 2020 federal census, the 2020 Census Grant Program Panel was created to issue matching grants to local governments and nonprofit organizations.

Agencies were to apply to the Grant Panel for matching funds by March 1, 2019, and use such funds for accurate population counting, and collection of basic demographic and housing data. By April 1, 2019, the Panel was to determine how the funds were to be awarded.

Authorization for the Panel ended June 30, 2020.
