In February 2021, the Partial Expungement Work Group was authorized by the General Assembly (Chapter 31, Acts of 2021). In May 2021, it was renamed the Work Group to Study Partial Expungement (Chapters 376 and 377, Acts of 2021).

The Work Group charge was to formulate a plan and legislative recommendations to provide for expungement of a criminal charge, when the charge stems from one incident with multiple charges, all of which are not presently eligible for expungement.

Authorization for the Work Group ended June 30, 2022 (Chapters 376 and 377, Acts of 2021).
