In Baltimore County, the Department of Housing and Community Development advocates for affordable housing, economic opportunity, and appropriate housing for the elderly and those with disabilities.
The Department offers several supportive housing programs, including: Family Self-Sufficiency, Housing Choice Voucher, and Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing.

The Family Self-Sufficiency Program helps Housing Choice Voucher Program participants gain financial independence.
The Housing Choice Voucher Program provides low-income residents with the ability to choose housing that meets their own individual needs. The Program receives funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing Program assists homeless veterans in obtaining housing. This Program is aided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the County Department of Housing and Community Development.
