The Board supervises a comprehensive program of public recreation in schools, parks or other lands, or buildings, either publicly or privately owned, or other acceptable recreational facilities made available to the Board. The Board develops, equips, operates and maintains, and issues permits for use of any of these facilities.
The Board consists of ten members appointed to four-year terms by the County Council (Code Local Government Article, sec. 1-606; County Code, secs. 37-1 through 37-7).

BOARD OF RECREATION & PARKS
The Board of Recreation and Parks considers and determines all questions of general policy relating to public recreation and parks for the County, and supervises and directs expenditure of all appropriations and funds made available to the Board from whatever source.
