DIVISION OF ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
Under Department of Public Works, Environmental Services Division oversaw solid waste, including landfills and recycling (County Code, secs. 109-1 through 109-24). It also oversaw gypsy moth and noxious weed eradication programs.

In Aug. 2015, Division was abolished and its functions outsourced to Maryland Environmental Service.

JUVENILE DRUG COURT

Under Circuit Court, Juvenile Drug Court began in Oct. 2000 as Juvenile Accountability Court, an unfunded pilot project. In Sept. 2001, that court received funding from Drug Court Program of U.S. Department of Justice and, as Juvenile Drug Court, began operation in Oct. 2001.

To increase treatment for drug addiction and reduce criminal recidivism, Juvenile Drug Court sought to help youth who were repeat offenders, heavily involved with drugs and juvenile justice system.

Court ended Dec. 31, 2016, after Department of Juvenile Services stopped funding for treatment of adolescents in Juvenile Drug Court Program.
