Formation of the Upper Shore Workforce Investment Board was required in order for the Upper Shore to receive Federal job training funds from the U.S. Department of Labor. The Board also fulfills requirements of the federal Workforce Investment Act of 1998, and the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014.
Members of the Upper Shore Workforce Investment Board are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners of each county in the Upper Shore.

UPPER SHORE WORKFORCE INVESTMENT BOARD
To implement and manage the Federal Job Training Partnership Act, the Upper Shore Workforce Investment Board was created on July 21, 1983. The Upper Shore area includes Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne's and Talbot counties.
