The County water supply, sewage, garbage and sanitary facilities, are regulated, operated, maintained and controlled by the Department. The Department also regulates, operates, maintains, and controls County public landings, wharf facilities, and parks. In addition, it administers and enforces all laws and regulations relating to inspections, licenses, and permits.

ROADS & COUNTY FACILITIES DEPARTMENT

Road management in Talbot County dates to the 1600s with the first "Overseeares and Repairers of the High Wayes" being appointed in November 1669. Centuries later, the Roads and County Facilities Department started as the Road Department. In February 2023, the Roads Department merged with the Facilities Maintenance Department to form the Roads and County Facilities Department.

Today, the Roads and County Facilities Department repairs and maintains County roads and facilities. Its work includes road patching and repair, maintenance of drainage structures and ditches, road resurfacing, sign maintenance, culvert installation, debris removal, mowing, and snow removal.

In cooperation with the Maryland Department of Agriculture, the Department oversees the Weed Control Department, which is responsible for controlling Johnsongrass and Thistle.
